Elara Route vs Google Maps

Routing that costs a fraction of the price, runs on your own servers, and that you can prove, line for line. Same distances as the big maps, updated the moment a road changes.

~$0
marginal cost per route, you host it
Offline
runs air-gapped, on your own maps
302×
faster route update when a road changes, we adjust, not recalculate
In-house
your location data never leaves your network

Same routes, side by side

A captured side-by-side, measured June 2026. Each Elara figure is from our engine; each Google figure was read off Google Maps for the same route on that day.

Why teams choose Elara

Eight reasons teams move their route calls off metered map APIs, same distances, far more control.

What mattersElara RouteMetered map APIs
Cost at fleet or matrix scale~$0 per route, you host itMetered per call and per matrix element

A fair question: how does a small team match the big maps on routing? Because efficiency is the whole game here, and ours is on public record. Our founder ranks first out of about 250 000 participants for computational efficiency on the public GIMPS registry at mersenne.org. And the whole site runs on our own engine, the same one we sell. Check both yourself.
The bottom line: Elara gives you the same distances, updates the route the moment a road changes, and costs a fraction of the price, running on your own servers, even offline, with your location data never leaving your network. Built for couriers, fleets, drones, mining and self-driving.
The biggest saving is at scale: a 500-stop distance matrix run once a day is about 7.5 million elements a month. On metered per-element pricing that is about $450,000 a year; in-region, the same work runs on one small server. Reroute updates are up to 302× faster, 97% of road changes need no full recalculation, and updates are about 80% smaller on the wire, byte-for-byte identical (benchmarks). Cost basis: Google Maps Platform Routes/Matrix list pricing (~$5 per 1 000 elements; 7.5M elements/month ≈ $37 500/month ≈ $450 000/year), retrieved June 2026, verify on Google's current rate card.
